There’s no cut and dry answer for everything and this profession can render us to be only as good as our training. If you don’t know what you don’t know, then how do you know what’s left to learn?
I’ve been appraising for almost 26 years, and i didn’t know what i was doing for almost half of that time. my supervisor told me to do things, “because he said so”. I didn’t know that wasn’t good enough until the market crashed and i suddenly found myself fighting for work. the competition was fierce, and so I joined the appraisal institute to further my competitive edge. I have since left that organization, but not without having taken tons of classes and developing relationships that i continue to foster,
to this day. by surrounding myself with true professionals, whose experience was broad and comprehensive, i developed my skill sets and ultimately built a practice that is thriving. i perform appraisals for lenders, attorneys, realtors and homeowners. i’ve expanded my practice to specialize in expert witness testimony and i get to chose from among some of the most pleasant to work with lenders imaginable. and…i get paid fair fees, all the time. this course is a simple download of a (near) perfect appraisal report. it is accompanied by detailed notes that highlight the key features of each section of the appraisal report.
